Dr. J Oswald Sanders repeats “His faith imparted vision” a few times when discussing vision and church leadership. “Moses, one of the great leaders of all history, “endured, as seeing him who is invisible.” (KJV)

His faith imparted vision. Elisha’s servant saw the obvious menace of the encircling army, but Elisha saw the vast, invisible hosts of heaven. His faith imparted vision.

“Vision requires eyes that see. “Eyes that look are common; eyes that see are rare. The Pharisees looked at Peter and saw an unschooled fisherman. Jesus saw in Peter and apostle and preacher, a saint and a leader who would help turn the world upside down.”

J. Oswald Sanders, Spiritual Leadership: Principles of Excellence for Every Believer (Chicago: Moody Publishers, 2007), 65, 226.

Sanders added an application question for the church leaders: “How can vision create problems?” Dr. Sanders’ book is a bundling of his speeches which he delivered as director of China Inland Mission (now Overseas Missionary Fellowship.)
